As an Android™ user, when you add your Members First debit or credit card to Google Pay, you can make purchases in-store or online with security and ease. Your card information is never shared with the retailer because your device uses an encrypted virtual account number.

Google Pay is a simple, secure way to pay and save. You can make contactless, secure purchases at the store. You can also buy items online or in apps and pay a friend or a group in a snap.

Unlock your device and place it near the contactless reader.

Your phone will beep or vibrate, and you'll receive a confirmation on your screen to let you know the payment was made.

What is Google Pay™?

Google Pay™ allows you to pay for purchases with an Android device at participating merchants.

Is Google Pay™ the same as Android Pay™?

In 2018, Google Wallet™ merged with Android Pay™ and was rebranded as Google Pay™.

How does Google Pay™ work?

Google Pay™ uses Near Field Communications (NFC) to transfer data between two devices. When you use a compatible Android™ device, you can make purchases in-store or online with participating merchants or with supported apps.

What is a contactless payment?

A contactless payment is a transaction that uses chip-based technology and requires no physical contact between the payment device (a card or mobile device) and the physical merchant terminal.

Does Members First Credit Union of Florida charge for using Google Pay™?

No. The service is free, however message and data rates may apply depending on your data plan.

What do I need to get started with Google Pay™?

  • Android™ device with OS KitKat or higher

How do I add my Members First payment card to Google Pay™?

To add your Members First credit or debit card to Google Pay™, you'll need and Android™ device with OS KitKat or higher, a Google account, and Screen lock enabled.

How to add your Members First payment card to your mobile device.

Note: Google Pay™ is preloaded on many devices. If your device does not have the app, download the Goolge Pay™ app from the Google Play™ Store or your device's App Store. If your Members First Credit Union of Florida payment card is already linked to your Google account, you can add it to the Google Pay™ app by simply confirming a few details.

  1. Open the Google Pay™ app.
  2. At the bottom, tap Insights ($).
  3. Tap Show all accounts and then select Add account.
  4. Tap To use as payment method.
  5. Use the camera to capture your card or choose to Enteral details manually.
  6. Review the terms and tap Accept.

Why am I being asked to verify my Members First card?

For security reasons, you may need to provide additional verification to add your Members First card to Android Pay™. If necessary, you will be instructed on how to verify your card.

When your information is verified, you should receive a notification that your card is ready for Android Pay™. If you have not received a notification after an hour, call:

What Members First Credit Union of Florida cards can I add to Google Pay™?

Google Pay™ works with your Members First credit card and debit card.

What is a default card on Google Pay™?

Your default card is the card that is automatically used each time you make a purchase through Google Pay™.

How do I set my Members First card as my default card on Google Pay™?

Setting your Members First debit or credit card to be your default card is simple, and you only have to do it once.

  1. Open the Google Pay™ app and tap the card image on the top right.
  2. Tap the card you want to use as your default contactless payment method.
  3. Then tap Make default contactless.
  4. This card will now be used by default whenever you make a contactless payment.

Note: The first card you add to Google Pay™ will automatically be your default card. This can be updated at any time.

How secure is a transaction on Google Pay™?

When you shop at a merchant, Google Pay™ doesn't send your actual credit or debit number with your payment. Instead, Google Pay™ uses a virtual account number to represent account information, so your card details stay safe.

What if I find unauthorized transactions on the card I use with Google Pay™?

What if my actual Members First credit card or debit card is lost or stolen?

If your Members First credit or debit card is stolen, you should:

What do I do if my Android™ device is stolen?

If your phone is ever lost or stolen:

  • Use your Android™ Device Manager to instantly lock your device from anywhere, secure it with a new password, and even wipe it clean of your personal information
  • Contact our credit and/or debit card processor's Digital Wallet Support to suspend your device.

Can I still use my physical Members First card if I suspend or remove my card in the Wallet app?

When you suspend or remove your card(s) in Wallet, your device-specific Device Account Number is suspended or removed. You may continue to use your physical card unless the actual card is blocked or closed.

Do I still earn rewards with my Members First credit card when using Google Pay™?

Yes. For every purchase made with your Members First credit card, you'll earn 1 point for every $1 spent.
